Japan Open 2012: P. V. Sindhu ousts Kaori Imabeppu in Women?s Singles first round encounter

India?s upcoming player P. V. Sindhu passed her first test in Women?s Singles first round as she had to employ all of her skills to overpower her local rival Kaori Imabeppu at the Yonex Japan Open 2012 on Wednesday, September 19, at Tokyo, Japan.

The in-form Indian player, who has been impressive in the last week?s China Masters, had to dig into her reserves and remained successful in winning the battle in a tough fashion by taking 57 minutes on court.

Sindhu took the first set with a narrow margin but failed to make it a straight-set contest as she lost the following game. Nevertheless, she played to her maximum potential and managed to win the battle in three games with a reasonable margin.

On the contrary, Kaori failed to make her home fans happy as she, despite putting up wonderful show, could not stop her rival from winning the match in rubber games in a reasonable fashion.

The opening set of this contest was absolutely amazing when both ladies showed their aggression and progressed closely until the end of opening half.

After the mid-game interval, Sindhu managed to set up a reasonable lead by playing positive badminton. She maintained the gap in the ending phase and took the set with a 21-18 score on the board.

In the following set, Kaori also showed a remarkable performance on board as she played fast and parallel badminton this time and remained in firm control until the break.

The Indian shuttler tried her best to stop the aggression of her Japanese challenger but she failed to play effective shots and lost the set with a margin of 17-21.

In the deciding set, Sindhu played on a different level as she played fast and positive badminton and took a wonderful lead until the mid-game interval.

After the break, the Indian player continued her positive run and remained successful in winning the deciding set with a dominating 21-13 score on the board.

Sindhu won this thrilling contest in 57 minutes with an overall margin of 21-18, 17-21 and 21-13.
